Congratulations, Jasmine!
The Allergen Bureau is incredibly proud to congratulate Jasmine on receiving the AIFST Food Safety Award at the 2026 The Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology – AIFST Convention this week.
The AIFST Food Safety Award recognises an individual or team that has made a significant contribution to advancing food safety in Australia through leadership, innovation and a sustained commitment to protecting consumers. It’s a fitting recognition of Jasmine’s leadership and unwavering commitment to a safer food supply for all Australians and across the globe.
Jasmine has dedicated more than 25 years to improving food safety across the Australian and international agrifood sectors – since first developing allergen management strategies in manufacturing environments back in 2000. As Director of the Food Science Centre at Mérieux NutriSciences AQ, President of the Allergen Bureau, founding Co-Chair of EHEDG Australia, and an Australian representative to Codex and the FAO/WHO Expert Consultation on Food Allergens, Jasmine has played a pivotal role in advancing allergen management, hygienic design and food safety standards, bringing a deep appreciation for the challenges facing the food industry and a genuine passion for solutions that support safer food choices for people with food allergy
As Jasmine herself reflected, thanking past mentors, colleagues and peers, this journey traces back to 2001, when she was challenged to develop a national allergen management program and risk management strategy – a challenge that has helped shape an entire field since.
Jasmine also thanked Mérieux NutriSciences AQ for their continued support of her work, and everyone across industry who nominated her and championed this recognition.
Her unwavering commitment to collaboration, education and scientific excellence makes her a highly deserving recipient of the 2026 AIFST Food Safety Award. Jasmine, thank you for everything you bring to the Allergen Bureau and to the broader food allergy community. This one is thoroughly well deserved!!
