New Plain English Allergen Labelling Requirements

12.00 pm Derek Castles, Labelling and Information Standards Section, FSANZ
Derek will give an overview of the PEAL Changes to the Code together with Implementation timeframes.  

Summary of changes to Definitions and Required Names

12.25pm   Peter Bush, Executive Officer and FTAA Technical Committee, FTAA
Peter will summarise the changes made to Allergen Declarations and Required Names and where to find them in the Legislation. This includes where required names may differ between the statement of ingredients and the summary statement.

Summary of new Allergen Labelling Requirements

12.45pm Tony Zipper, Technical Consultant and FTAA Technical Committee, FTAA
Tony will Summarise the Change in Allergen Labelling requirements including processing aids, bolding of allergen in ingredient listing, summary statements and positioning of declarations. This presentation will also include relevant Q&A statements.

PEAL Legislation, Precautionary Allergy Labelling (PAL) & Allergen Bureau Resources

1.15pm Georgina Christensen, The Allergen Bureau
The Allergen Bureau has released freely available guidance for food business operators to encourage consistency in allergen labelling declarations. Georgina will introduce these resources and provide answers to frequently asked questions on the effect of PEAL on PAL statements.
