Allergen Bureau recognised for VITAL food safety innovation

The Allergen Bureau was delighted to receive the APAC Food Safety 2019 ‘Innovators in Food Safety Award’ for the Voluntary Incidental Trace Allergen Labelling (VITAL®) Program, including VITAL Online. The award was presented at the recent APAC Food Safety Conference 2019, Sydney, by conference organisers SAI Global.

The Innovators in Food Safety Award recognises an individual or organisation that has exceled in developing innovations in technology, process, procedure and training in the food safety space.

We are thrilled to have VITAL recognised for implementing positive change within the food safety industry in food allergen management.

Allergen management and labelling is a significant food safety issue. The application of consistent precautionary allergen labelling (PAL) is ultimately beneficial to consumers with a food allergy, making it easier for them to make decisions as to which foods are safe for them to eat and which they should avoid.

Innovations that provide standarised food safety tools for the whole global food industry – such as the VITAL Program and VITAL Online – assist all industry in delivering safe food for consumption by the world’s population. In response to the global uptake of VITAL, the Allergen Bureau has noted an enhanced awareness and improved focus on the issue of allergen management as a food safety issue within the ANZ and international food industry.

The Allergen Bureau would like to acknowledge all of our Allergen Bureau Members who provide the support to allow us to keep informing the food industry through innovative industry resources such as VITAL.
