Our annual AGM and Member Meeting is always a highlight of the calendar – a chance to connect in person, share ideas and celebrate our member community. Thank you to everyone who joined us in North Sydney and online, on Thursday, 22 October.
Following the AGM, our Member Meeting featured three guest speakers who shared valuable insights into allergen risk management, regulatory science and food innovation.
Jasmine Lacis-Lee, President of the Allergen Bureau, opened proceedings with an update on global allergen risk management developments. Dr Malav Trivedi, PhD, FRSB, Director at Eden Brew Pty Ltd, followed with a fascinating presentation on understanding GMO beta-casein. Kim Tonnet (née Staples), Regulatory Consultant at Kim Tonnet Consulting, closed the session with a presentation on regulatory and scientific considerations for non-traditional allergen ingredients.
A recording of the presetations are available to members, please contact us for a copy.
We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined online or in person and helped make the day so valuable for our broader Allergen Bureau member community.
Days like this remind us of what membership is all about: a non-competitive space where members come together to share learning, compare notes and support one another through common challenges. That spirit of collaboration is at the heart of the value we aim to offer, and we’re grateful to everyone who takes part and contributes.
Special thanks to the Board and Management Committee, to Lisa Clark for bringing these events together, and to Lynsey McLeod for her hard work behind the scenes.
Thank You, Caroline: A Board Farewell

The Allergen Bureau thanks Caroline for her truly valuable contribution to the Board.
Caroline is Regulatory Affairs Manager ANZ for IFF, with a food industry career that began in New Zealand dairy and grew through technical marketing, quality and regulatory affairs roles.
Her impact on the Allergen Bureau has been immense. From the early days of the Allergen Forum, Caroline worked across the VITAL and PIF working groups, then drive the Allergen Exemption working group to secure the landmark 2016 change to Standard 1.2.3 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. She brought a strong New Zealand lens to every Board discussion, and a global ingredient manufacturer’s perspective through her chairing of the IFF Allergen Network.
Caroline will be missed around the Board table, but not for long. She remains closely involved through the Allergen Bureau Management Committee, and is a member of our FAMS Organising Committee, and we look forward to working alongside her there. Thank you, Caroline, for a huge and lasting contribution.
Welcome – New Board Member, Alison Wright

The Allergen Bureau is pleased to welcome Alison Wright from Aryzta. We look forward to Alison’s involvement and to the perspective she brings to our work on food allergen management.
